Bachelor of Counselling
Provisional Member NZ Association of Counsellors (NZAC)
My approach to counselling is one which honours the whole of a person. It is important to me to provide a space where people feel safe and are genuinely supported and heard. This forms the ideal platform from which we can work together towards desired understandings and therapeutic outcomes.
I completed my Bachelor of Counselling in June 2021. My student placement during my studies was in a community organisation with a focus on grief counselling and I continue to work there two days per week. I have found supporting people to navigate grief and loss in its many forms to be a special privilege.
Prior to retraining as a counsellor, I worked in accounting and business administration. Helping people to find clarity out of the murkiness (even if it is numbers) has always been something that I have enjoyed. In counselling, I especially value seeing people reconnect with their own wisdom and place of strength.
I am predominantly a Person-centered and Narrative practitioner, but I have also been trained in strengths-based and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies and use those where appropriate. I have experience working with issues which include, but are not limited to:
